Bremond House Etched Glass
Sandblasting is one of the most versatile forms of glass etching. Designs
can range from simple surface etching (frosted look for logos, patterns, and
graphics) to complex multi-level carved glass (3-D designs for wall art,
room dividers, and stand-alone art pieces). Today’s sandblasting technology
allows the artist to create subtle effects by using hard and soft line,
semi-tones, layering and a variety of textures. Design styles can
accommodate almost any home décor ranging from contemporary abstract, nature
realism to traditional decorative designs.
Production capabilities
Bremond House uses state-of-the-art sandblasting equipment capable of
accommodating large production projects as well as complex commissions. Most
types of glass can be easily sandblasted, including flat sheet, curved,
annealed, tempered, laminated, or kiln formed. For installed glass that is
not practical to remove and relocate to our facilities for sandblasting,
Bremond House uses a remote system to etch the glass on site. This remote
system is ideal for surface-etched designs and uses a vacuum system to whisk
away particles as the glass is being etched.
Design
Whether the artist is working on a stained glass panel or an etched panel,
the final output is only as good as its original design. For that reason,
Bremond House relies on the experience of its in-house glass designer to
deliver truly extraordinary pieces that continuously meet or exceed client
expectations.
The sandblasting process involves creating a drawing that is transferred to
the appropriate stencil material for the project. Surface etching uses a
lighter weight stencil material (resist) compared to a deep carved patter.
Once the pattern is printed on the stencil, it is then hand cut or computer
cut depending upon the detail in the design. In a multi-level design, layers
of stencil are removed at designated intervals to create the appropriate
depth of etching desired by the designer. |
